Suzy

Last Updated: January 13, 2025

Date of Arrival:  January 1, 2025

Age:  Approx. 8 years old

Breed:  Shih Tzu

Size:  Approx. 20 lbs

Gender:  Female

Adoption Status:  Suzy is not yet available for adoption

Must Haves: Chin rubs and comfy beds.

Personality:  Suzy loves to smile and wag her tail and is a really good girl in her new foster home. She loves to follow her foster mom and if she is left outside the bathroom door, Suzy will paw it to come in. She will also use her little paw to nudge for more attention. She is really just a great little dog.

House training/Pee Pad Training:  Suzy does her business outside

Walks/Leash Training:  Suzy does well on a leash.

Children:  TBD

Dogs, Cats and Other Friends:  Suzy is getting along well with the other pups in her foster home. They have no problem rotating and sharing beds, like one big happy family. For the most part, Suzy ignores the cat in her foster home, and if he hisses, she knows to walk away.

Best Home Environment:  TBD - but so far, someone who is okay with her sweet snores. Preference may be given to a home with a securely fenced yard.

A note about secure fencing - While each dog is different in the level of security needed, we require the fence be of a height that the dog could not jump over (some of our dogs can easily scale a 5 foot fence), no gaps in fencing, gate is secure, and the bottom of the fence is also free from gaps or areas where a dog could dig out from underneath.

A note about being a flight risk - Flight risk can be the result of many things, including fear, lack of "street-wise" skills, or incredible curiosity for the sights, smells, and sounds on the other side of the fence. Any of these reasons could lead to the dog attempting to break free of their leash or seek out gaps so they can move past the fence.

We strongly encourage adopters to enrol in a basic obedience course with the dog they adopt. Participating in an obedience course can help build trust between human and dog, help the dog gain confidence and social interaction skills, and build strong recall skills, in addition to the on and off leash skills that basic obedience training can provide.

Health:  Suzy has not yet completed his vetting

History:  Suzy is an owner surrender.

Adoption Fee: Suzy's adoption fee is $500.
