Date of Arrival: November 26, 2024
Age: Approx. 8 years old
Breed: Pomeranian
Size: Approx. 12 lbs
Gender: Male
Adoption Status: We are accepting applications for Charlie.
Must Haves: A morning person, car rides and play time!
Personality: Charlie is a joyful little man. He loves attention and being petted. He thinks mornings are the best, but will patiently wait for his foster to get up before trying to convince her to play with him. When his foster works from home, he hangs out quietly.
House training/Pee Pad Training: Charlie now only wears a belly band overnight to be safe. Otherwise he is doing great with his housetraining.
Walks/Leash Training: Charlie is good on a leash and loves walks.
Children: We expect Charlie would be fine with older, dog-savvy kids.
Dogs, Cats and Other Friends: Charlie may need a few days to adjust, but with proper introduction, he gets along with other dogs. Him and his foster sister had a great Christmas together.
Best Home Environment: Charlie is not afraid to use his voice, so he will require a home without shared walls. He likes lots of cuddles and has recently started sleeping in bed with the family. We think he would do fine as an only dog in the home or with a fur companion. Preference may be given to a home with a securely fenced yard.
A note about secure fencing - While each dog is different in the level of security needed, we require the fence be of a height that the dog could not jump over (some of our dogs can easily scale a 5 foot fence), no gaps in fencing, gate is secure, and the bottom of the fence is also free from gaps or areas where a dog could dig out from underneath.
A note about being a flight risk - Flight risk can be the result of many things, including fear, lack of "street-wise" skills, or incredible curiosity for the sights, smells, and sounds on the other side of the fence. Any of these reasons could lead to the dog attempting to break free of their leash or seek out gaps so they can move past the fence.
We strongly encourage adopters to enrol in a basic obedience course with the dog they adopt. Participating in an obedience course can help build trust between human and dog, help the dog gain confidence and social interaction skills, and build strong recall skills, in addition to the on and off leash skills that basic obedience training can provide.
Health: Charlie has completed his vetting. He has a bit of a chronic cough, which can be treated with a humidifier. He also has early mitral valve disease (thickening of the mitral valve). At this point, he does not require any medication, but is recommended to have an ultrasound once a year, or as symptoms requires.
History: Charlie is an owner surrender.
Adoption Fee: Charlie's adoption fee is $500.
